Bioinformatics: making sense of the information flood

Since the completion of the Human Genome Project, scientists have been inundated by biological information. Bioinformatics is helping to make sense of it all. The Australian Academy of Science’s new Nova: Science in the news topic, ‘Bioinformatics: making sense of the information flood’ has the latest information http://www.science.org.au/nova/124/124key.html The topic describes how bioinformatics tools are being used to develop new medical treatments and to make advances in areas such as agriculture and biology. It also includes classroom activities, a glossary and links to further useful resources.

One of our directors, James Curran, has published a book! Whilst not necessarily aimed at bioinformatics, it provides a good introduction to the statistical analysis of data from experiments. The book is aimed at experimentalists and lab workers, not statisticians.
